The Minister of Preschool and School Education, Hilola Umarova, recently held a press conference in Tashkent, where she addressed one of the most pressing issues in education—the level of teachers’ salaries. According to the minister, over 6,000 teachers are currently receiving salaries exceeding $1,000.

Umarova noted that raising teachers’ salaries is a top priority for the ministry. She emphasized that there is ongoing collaboration with the Ministry of Finance on this issue, and there are already examples of teachers receiving fair compensation for their work.

According to the minister, the average monthly salary of teachers currently stands at 3.4 million soums, which is 13.3% higher than in the same period in 2023. Meanwhile, the salaries of top-tier teachers who receive bonuses from the director’s fund, as well as those with internationally recognized certificates, can reach 10 million soums.

Umarova also mentioned that the monthly bonus from the minister’s fund amounts to 5.7 million soums and is paid to teachers who have transparently passed certification. Notably, the number of teachers receiving this bonus is not limited, which encourages educators to pursue professional growth.

Special attention is also given to teachers working in remote areas, who are provided with additional bonuses of up to 3.7 million soums. Winners of international Olympiads who are currently working as teachers also receive bonuses, which can reach up to 4.1 million soums.

According to her, over 6,000 teachers in public schools are now earning salaries of $1,000 or more. Every year, both the salaries and the number of teachers striving for professional growth and achieving high results in their work are increasing.

“I want all our teachers to receive high salaries. I am doing everything possible to create conditions for their professional growth and achievement of worthy success,” concluded Hilola Umarova.
