Uzbek citizens continue to fall victim to fraudulent schemes related to car leasing. This time, the Committee for the Development of Competition and Consumer Protection has revealed details about two firms that deceived hundreds of people, promising them cheap cars on lease. These companies owe their clients more than 1 billion sums.

The essence of the fraudulent scheme was that the companies attracted money from consumers under the pretense of quickly providing new cars. Specifically, we are talking about the firms UMID AVTO LIZING and BUSINES ORIENTAUTO. More than 200 victims filed complaints with the Committee, with 80% of them involving these particular companies.

According to the Committee, these firms used a classic fraudulent scheme: they promised customers cars in the shortest possible time, collected money from them, but then either delayed the process or did not fulfill their obligations at all. As a result, the funds collected from new clients were used to cover debts to previous customers, and the return of money was delayed for a year or more.

These actions caused widespread outrage among buyers who were promised cars but were left with nothing. During the investigation, it became known that both firms had committed numerous violations, failed to meet contract terms, and delayed the return of funds for extended periods. Following the review of complaints, the authorities managed to ensure the return of more than 1 billion sums to the affected customers.

However, this is far from the first case of this kind. The Committee reported that criminal cases had already been initiated against officials from companies such as UMID AUTO LEASING, ORIENT AVTO-LIZING, SAMO RIMMAX AVTO, and many others for fraud and illegal fundraising. Despite repeated warnings, many consumers continue to trust such companies, hoping to get cheap cars.

The Committee for the Development of Competition once again urges citizens to be cautious when signing contracts with car leasing firms. It is crucial to thoroughly check all contract terms, especially those related to refund policies in case of problems, and to verify the company’s reliability through available information sources.

This case once again highlights the importance of being careful and vigilant when dealing with large sums of money. It is essential to remember that promises of quickly obtaining cars at low prices often turn out to be mere tricks to attract funds, and the final result may be far from what was promised.
