Today, a court in Tashkent delivered a verdict in the case of the death of blogger Farhod Mannopov, better known as Mittivine. The tragedy occurred on the night of March 4–5, 2023. The 27-year-old Mannopov passed away at the private clinic Star Med Center following a surgical procedure. A few days prior, he had sustained nose and head injuries in a swimming pool and sought medical assistance at the clinic.

Following his death, an inspection of the clinic revealed numerous violations. The Ministry of Health suspended the clinic’s operating license.

Court Verdict

Today, the court announced its decision regarding two doctors from the clinic:

  • The otorhinolaryngologist who performed the surgery.
  • The anesthesiologist-reanimatologist responsible for administering anesthesia.

Both doctors were found guilty under Part 3 of Article 116 of the Criminal Code (negligent performance of professional duties). Their sentences include:

  • A 2-year ban on practicing in the medical field.
  • 5 years of restricted freedom.

For one of the doctors, the anesthesiologist, the sentence was reduced to 3 years and 6 months due to time already served under arrest.

This case highlights the importance of medical standards and accountability, serving as a reminder of the responsibilities doctors bear towards their patients.
