A new system called Pax Track has been launched in test mode at Tashkent International Airport. This system is a comprehensive passenger monitoring system that tracks passengers at all stages of their time in the airport. A passenger is entered into the system after scanning their boarding pass at the turnstiles located immediately after the check-in area. This allows airport staff to track the passenger’s location within the terminal and determine if they have entered the “sterile” zone after check-in.
The Pax Track system will also be integrated with border control and aviation security screening systems.
Currently, the departure hall is equipped with 40 check-in counters (37 in the main hall, 2 in the CIP Lounge, and 1 in the VIP lounge). After the reconstruction is completed, the number of check-in counters will increase to 90, including 12 hybrid Self Check-in and Baggage Drop Off counters, where passengers can independently check in for their flights and drop off their baggage.
The number of border control lines in the departure area will also increase from 34 to 54, including E-gates. The security screening area will be expanded to 15 channels. In the arrival area, a new passport control zone with 48 passenger lanes will be added, and the number of baggage carousels will increase from four to eight. Additionally, the merging of the departure and arrival halls will allow for the creation of a 4,000 square meter area designated for those meeting passengers.
As part of the reconstruction, it is also planned to implement BHS and BRS baggage handling and control systems. New equipment and software will be installed for both departures and arrivals. The system will enable automatic sorting of baggage by flight, tracking baggage from the moment it is accepted for transport to the moment it is loaded onto the aircraft, and, most importantly, minimizing the human factor in this process. To further enhance passenger convenience, a mobile app will be developed that allows passengers to track their baggage using the baggage tag number.
During the final phase of reconstruction, which will begin in September of this year, the arrival and departure halls will be combined into a single terminal complex with a total area of approximately 105,000 square meters. This will increase the terminal’s capacity from the current 1,200 passengers per hour to 2,400 passengers per hour.
